Preparing Littles for Submersion
Hello Fellow Swimmers!
When it comes to getting your little one more comfortable in the water, you can start with bath time! Get them used to water covering their face by starting with a cue, and following up with pouring some water.
A cue can be as simple as getting their attention then saying "3, 2, 1 here's the water!" And pouring some water on your little one's shoulder. Start with their shoulder, then move up to their ears, then top of their head to get their eyes wet.
Whenever water gets close to their smiling face, smile and say "Good job!" If they see you and happy, then they will believe water on their face is normal. If they see you frown, or if you ask if they are okay, then they will think something is wrong, and start fussing.
