Talor began his aquatic journey learning how to swim in lessons at age 4. While serving in the Marine Corps Reserves, in 2007, he qualified at the top level for combat swimming. Later he started working as a lifeguard while continuing to serve in the Marines. When guarding, Talor enjoyed growing relationships with the families he would see each week. He often gave swimmers tips on how to improve their swimming in the water, well before he became a swim instructor. Little did Talor know his love for sharing the ability to swim with others was going to become what it is today. After a life saving CPR event in late 2010, Talor became passionate about teaching swimming skills to those of all ages. He can make anyone feel comfortable in the water, with his goofy attitude and confidence in people's ability to do difficult things.

April
Co-Owner
Swim instructor since 2016
on maternity leave
Likely to return to teaching swim lessons in the fall of 2025
Current Certifications:
American Red Cross-certified lifeguard
Prior Certifications:
American Red Cross-certified lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
Age Groups:
Children 18 months + and adults
Background:
April has been swimming in pools and lakes ever since she could remember. She was that kid who just wouldn't leave the pool! April grew up on a year round swim team called The Poulsbo Piranha Swim Team. There, April learned that she loves the water for more than just the four standard swim strokes, that there is more to learn on top of swim team skills. Later, she worked to give her creative ability an outlet through cooking and interior design, this is where she realized that she is a bit of a perfectionist. After earning a bachelors in interior design, she practiced for a couple of years. Unsatisfied, April found that she missed the water so much that she decided to seek out how to put the love of swim back into her life. Since 2016, April has been applying her creative ability towards teaching swimming, and she has been teaching swim lessons full time since 2017 with ages 18 months and up, including adults. April excels at creating a comfortable environment for anyone to open up, ask why, and get answers so that they can try new things.
About the owners
Learn why we, Talor and April, started Swimming With
After teaching together at another facility for 10 and 6 years, we decided to embark on the journey of teaching swim lessons on our own. Starting in October 2022, we slowly started to build up our program. We strive to teach swim lessons for those wanting to improve any water skill, without the requirement of focusing on a rigid lesson structure. While exploring various career pathways before 2022 it became clear to us that teaching swimming skills and empowering people's confidence in the water is a life-long journey that we want to take. We have both found great joy in sharing our love of swimming with others and realized that we could build a business serving our community by doing just that. After getting reconnected with a former colleague, we felt empowered to set out on our own. We landed on the name Swimming With as this reflects our core values indicating that we are with you during your swimming journey. We will work with you to figure out what it will take to get you to accomplish your goals. We are with you in the water, even for those more advanced, in order to show you the technique you are working on to best support you. As we have grown our business it has been a learning curve, and still is! There are so many supportive people in our lives helping make this business a continued possibility, including you (shout out)! Now here we are, with this family owned business supplying amazing people with the opportunity to learn what we, and our team of instructors, are passionate about, which is, if you can’t tell by now, swimming!
