Fearful Adults
Hello Fellow Swimmers!
Working with adult swimmers is such a great experience. We enjoy helping someone work on perfecting their technique; what's even more satisfying is helping a new swimmer overcome a fear.
A fear of the water is something that makes perfect sense to us. There is air above, and death below! Working with a new swimmer to learn how to handle that fear is a big part of why we teach swimming. It is wonderful to celebrate breakthroughs, and working around stumbling blocks.
With younger swimmers, we can be goofy enough to confuse them into overcoming their fear. With older swimmers, we tend to confront that fear head on. Then, working with the swimmer, we learn how to handle this fear and move forward.
Some adult swimmers decide to overcome their fear so they can enjoy being in the water during the summer. Others want to be able to help their children be safe in the water.
